CHOICES
That there are ‘good choices’ and ‘bad choices’ in life
Is no secret.
A slightly more subtle fact, is that often times
The ‘bad’ in the bad choices
Lies not merely in the nature of that thing,
But in the fact that it prevents one from enjoying the rewards
Of a better choice.
Is this not why the Lord has called sin, “sin”,
And referred to it as ‘damning’?
He wants for us the best,
And when we make bad choices,
We are cutting ourselves off from enjoying the rewards
Of a better choice . . .
Thereby ‘damming’ ourselves,
Just as surely as a dam stops the continued flow of water.
The dictionary may spell it differently,
But for all practical purposes
It really amounts to the same thing,
Doesn’t it?
